6 On The Square’s fall season includes newcomers, old favorites and holiday shows

OXFORD - 6 On The Square, Oxford’s nonprofit acoustic listening room, announces its fall 2025 season, with a mix of old favorites and new faces. Shows start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the shows are available online at www.6onthesquare.org or at the door at 6 Lafayette Park in downtown Oxford. Shows can also be live-streamed through the link on the website.

Sept. 13: Traditional bluegrass band Serene Green honors the pioneers of the genre while also showcasing its original compositions. Since 2017, the Northeastern Pennsylvania group has played in three countries and more than 20 states around the U.S., performed at festivals and venues alongside many nationally and internationally touring acts, and released three studio albums.

Sept. 19: Nashville-based duo Rhinestones & Rust fuses classic and contemporary country music with throwback originals and reimagined covers. J. Marc Bailey’s style has been compared to Chris LeDoux, George Strait and Blake Shelton; Jeneen Terrana’s voice is a blend of Kacey Musgraves, Linda Ronstadt and Trisha Yearwood.

Oct. 3: 6OTS favorite Dave Gunning is one of Canada’s folk music treasures — a critically acclaimed singer-songwriter who has earned multiple Canadian Folk Music Awards, a Juno nomination and nine East Coast Music Awards. Dave has gained a reputation for being a great storyteller and engaging performer who can take listeners on a musical journey through his songs.

Oct. 11: Songs by Syracuse-based acoustic guitarist Loren Barrigar have appeared on the TV shows “ER” and “The Young and The Restless” as well as a Christmas CD with BB King and Patti Labelle. He has performed with some of the best acoustic players in the world, including Stephen Bennett, Richard Smith, John Knowles, Muriel Anderson and Tommy Emmanuel. He has also recorded with multiple Grammy Award winner and legendary producer Lloyd Maines.

Oct. 25: Georgia-born, U.K.-based singer/songwriter Brooks Williams has been called one of the Top 100 Acoustic Guitarists, with a style that slides in and out of folk, blues and country. He has released 34 recordings in 35 years for labels like Green Linnet Records, Solid Air Records, Signature Sounds and Reveal, including his latest, “Diamond Days.”

Nov. 15: Maryland native (and now Texas-based) Karyn Oliver has been described as part Joan Osborne, a touch of Janis Joplin and a bit of Emmylou Harris, with a voice that oscillates from bluesy soul to country and back. Her latest album is “Cherchez La Femme,” which features an all-female cast to bring more attention to women creating music today.

Nov. 22: Singer/songwriter Lucy Kaplansky has been performing in folk clubs since her teens, originally balancing her life in music with a career as a clinical psychologist. As a full-time musician, she has released 10 albums to date, with the latest — "The Lucy Story" — featuring unreleased and rare tracks from 1976 to 2023.

Dec. 13: Celebrate the holidays with two shows at 6OTS! First up is On a Midwinter’s Eve with Joe Jencks, which will include well-crafted original tunes as well as favorites for the season. Jencks is an 25-year veteran of the international folk circuit, an award-winning songwriter, and celebrated vocalist based in Chicago who merges conservatory training with his Irish roots and working-class upbringing.

Dec. 21: Experience a holiday classic at A Charlie Brown Christmas with the Heather Pierson Trio. The beloved Vince Guaraldi jazz soundtrack has become iconic, and here’s your chance to hear it live and up close. Pierson is a New Hampshire-based singer/songwriter, pianist, song leader and performer whose various projects explore folk, jazz, blues and choral works.

Performances are supported in part by the R.C. Smith Foundation, Blueox Corporation, and by Earlville Opera House's Arts in the Community Grants Program, made possible by the NYS Legislature with support of the Office of the Governor, and administered by the New York State Council on the Arts.

Open Mic Night returns

Get the chance to perform on our stage at 6OTS’s Open Mic Night held on the first Thursday of every month this fall (Oct. 2, Nov. 6 and also Dec. 11). Sign-in begins at 6:45 p.m. with performances at 7 p.m. Musicians and poets are encouraged to share their talents. Organizer Ray Stark will act as emcee.

Performers will use our professional sound equipment, and we'll provide a sound tech. There is no charge to perform or be in the audience, but we'll gratefully take donations.

6 On The Square Inc. is an intimate, not-for-profit, volunteer-based acoustic music listening room and arts venue located at 6 Lafayette Park in downtown Oxford.
