CHENANGO COUNTY - The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office is recruiting full-time correction officers and offers paid on-the-job training.

According to the sheriff, starting pay is about $26 an hour. Benefits include paid vacation, sick and personal time, health care, a 25-year retirement plan, and time-and-a-half pay for holidays worked under the contract.

Applicants must be at least 18, hold a high school diploma or GED, have no felony convictions, and possess a valid New York driver’s license. Residency in Chenango County or a contiguous county is required.
