SUNY Morrisville announces expansion of its ASAP/ACE program, brings new mentor support to help students succeed
MORRISVILLE — This fall, SUNY Morrisville’s Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP)/Advancing Completion through Engagement (ACE) programs are entering an exciting new phase. With additional funding from New York State, the initiative is not only expanding, but also launching a new mentor program to give an extra layer of guidance and support.
The college will spotlight this growth at a press conference on Friday, Sept. 12, from 1 to 2 p.m., in the Hospitality Suite. The event, in partnership with SUNY, will feature remarks from SUNY representatives, Morrisville administrators, and program participants.
Participating ASAP/ACE students will share their stories about how the program — which offers financial assistance, personalized academic advising, career development and community-building activities — helps them succeed in pursuing their degrees.
The expansion aligns with a SUNY-wide push to enroll 10,000 students in the ASAP/ACE programs. This fall alone, 7,050 students across 34 campuses will benefit from the initiative.
SUNY Morrisville has set an ambitious 2025-26 cohort target of 360 students, making it one of the three largest ASAP/ACE programs in the SUNY system. The addition of mentors, a new feature unique to this year, is aimed at strengthening student engagement and providing individualized guidance, adding a personalized touch to the program’s existing support network.
SUNY Morrisville participants will include President David Rogers; Provost Suzan Harkness; Executive Director of SUNY Morrisville’s Opportunity and Access Programs Kayle Light-Curtin; ASAP/ACE Director Michael Duignan; first-time student in Individual Studies and ASAP participant Irma Chamorro; returning Information Technology student, veteran, and ACE participant Vincent Dahr; and ASAP/ACE Success Coach Corinne Tagliarina.
Also in attendance will be state Assemblyman Joe Angelino, who represents the 121st District.
SUNY Morrisville’s curricula are enriched with applied learning and pave the way for opportunity at the Morrisville and Norwich campuses. An action-oriented, interactive learning lab, the college is a national leader in technology and has been lauded for its exemplary, innovative, and effective community service programs.
