Sherburne Legion Riders hosting Be The One Charity Ride and Wellness Fair

SHERBURNE - The Sherburne American Legion Riders Post 876 are excited to have partnered with the Chenango County Suicide Prevention Coalition once again to bring the Be The One Charity Ride and Wellness Fair to our community during National Suicide Prevention Month.

This community event will take place this Saturday, September 20 at the Sherburne American Legion Post 876, located at 15 South Main Street in Sherburne.

The Wellness Fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with many agencies from the county and other organizations who provide services that positively impact the mental health and well-being of a veteran, as well as members of the community.

The American Legion is on a mission with their Be The One program, a national initiative that hopes to reduce the rate of veteran suicide and destigmatize asking for mental health support.

A veteran is 50 percent more likely to take his or her life than a person who has never served in the military. This must stop. Be The One provides training with useful information to help someone recognize any individual who may be having thoughts of suicide and what we can do to help.
