B-G runs wild to end skid in 42-28 win over Harpursville/Afton
HARPURSVILLE — The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats football team traveled to Harpursville Saturday afternoon for a game against the Harpursville/Afton Hornets. B-G snapped a four-game skid with a comfortable 42-28 road victory on Harpursville’s new turf field.
“After three straight games against the best Class D teams in the section and state, our boys continued to stay resilient and have a no quit attitude,” Coach Art Rigas said. “We also had a great week of practice, looking like a more balanced offense with good, skilled athletes being able to execute and block the ball well against a solid Harpursville/Afton team.”
B-G’s Connor Davy and the Bobcats saw a strong run game with 337 yards on the ground. Davy led the team with 14 carries for 138 yards and four touchdowns on the day. Isaiah Hampton went 10 for 92 yards and a touchdown as Parker Buttice ran for 12 carries for 79 yards and a touchdown as well.
Zane Mumbulo (2 for 25) and Ryan Larsen (1 for three yards) also saw some action.
Davy completed two passes for 40 yards to Isaiah Hampton for the passing game. Hampton finished with 132 all-purpose yards, coming behind Davy’s 178 yards total on the rush and pass.
“Our young offensive line has been making adjustments, but are coming together and improving each week,” Rigas said. “They are starting to settle in and really focus on the fundamentals that we instill for our program.”
Parker Buttice also came away with a fumble recovery while Brayden Swartwout made 14 tackles to lead the defense.
B-G (2-5) hosts Sidney on Friday night for the final home game of the 2025 season, which will be senior night.
“ Sidney is like our rival, being five miles away from each other, so it’ll be a good competitive game that our boys are excited for, where we will also honor our nine seniors,” Rigas said.
