ONEONTA – After strong play in the 2025 regular season, both the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats and the Oxford Blackhawks girls’ soccer teams faced off in the MAC championship game on Saturday at the Wright National Soccer Campus in Oneonta. For Oxford, it was their second consecutive year in the championship game after falling to Unatego in 2024.

B-G, who had lost to the Blackhawks in the final game of the regular season, earned the 4-0 shutout victory to win its first MAC league title since the 2003-04 season.

B-G’s Breanna Casey had herself a game as she scored a hat trick (three goals) and an assist and was named Nate Lull.com’s Player of the game. Jayslin Henderson also scored in the victory. B-G’s Danica Park made 12 saves in the win, saving some tough shots.

“We really stressed heavy passing and good communication all week to prepare for this game,” B-G’s Assistant Coach Riley Smith said. “We [Sarah and I] are really proud of the girls for all their hard work.”

Oxford’s Kayla Knapp, Jayne Fleury, Reese Tefft, and Jordan Palmer had shots on goals, but were unlucky against a tough B-G defense.

Both teams head into the Section IV, Class C tournament. B-G earned a first-round bye and will host the winner of the Delhi-Oxford game on October 25. Oxford hosts Delhi on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
