NEW BERLIN - While our community settles into fall routines, the team at the New Berlin Library is already focused on the future - specifically, the 2026 summer programming.

We have begun planning an ambitious initiative, a three-week children’s Dinosaur Camp as a tie in to the 2026 Summer Reading Program theme, Unearth a Story.

Library Director, Michelle Priola, says the library is taking a proactive approach to ensure the program has adequate funding for all the dinosaur and paleontology themed fun activities.

“The library summer programs don’t come together overnight,” said Michelle Priola “There is a lot of behind the scene advanced planning to make sure that everything is funded, educational, inclusive, and fun.”

As part of this advanced planning a grant was written for the Community Foundation for South Central New York Library Fund grant cycle.  Just this week the library director was informed that the grant had been awarded to fund next year’s program.

In addition to the Community Foundation for South Central New York Library Fund grant the library will be writing additional grants to fund the prizes for the Summer Reading Program, planning the Perkin’s Performance Series at Hyde Park through Perkin’s family sponsorship, partnering with the New Berlin Art Forum, and the Unadilla Valley Central School Summer Feeding Program.

“We are all really excited about next year’s dinosaur themed summer programming.  I have already started creating paper mâché dinosaur bone decorations.” stated Michelle Priola.   “The three-week summer program is going to be our biggest and best yet.  We will learn about dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, volcanoes, geodes, fossils and many more topics through crafts, stories, lessons, and science experiments.  The grant through the Community Foundation for South Central New York Library Fund will really help us accomplish a wonderful program next summer.”

Some great new additions to the library include: Remain: A supernatural Love Story by Nicholas Sparks and M. Night Shyamalan, The Picasso Heist by James Patterson and Howard Roughan, Gone Before Goodbye by Harlan Coben and Reese Witherspoon, Into the Game!  (Minecraft WoodSword Chronicles 1) by Nick Eliopulos,  Night of the Bats!
