Greene boys’ soccer advances with shutout victory vs Delhi
GREENE – The Section IV, Class C boys’ soccer tournament was underway on Tuesday as the number six Greene Trojans hosted the number 11 Delhi Bulldogs. Delhi had previously defeated Walton/Downsville in the MAC championship over the weekend.
Greene earned the 4-0 shutout victory and advance to the next round.
Greene took a 1-0 lead at halftime on a goal by Seth Symons off a corner kick with the assist from Judd Dutcher. The Trojans added on in the second half with goals by Paxson McCumiskey with an assist from Gavin Strantz, and Dutcher on an assist from Grant Leonard.
Symons scored again, his second goal of the game, with five minutes left in regulation from Dutcher.
Greene's Jackson Roth saved all six shots he faced for the clean sheet.
Greene advances to face Walton/Downsville on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
