Local Cross Country teams compete at Sectionals

CHENANGO VALLEY — The 2025 Section IV Cross country championships were held on Thursday afternoon at Chenango Valley State Park. All local county teams were action during this meet. The Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville and the Norwich boys’ and girls’ teams represented Class C as the Unadilla Valley/GMU teams are in Class D for the sport.

The Chenango Valley boys’ cross country team won the Class C title (49 points) with the BGAH boys in second place (66 points). The Chenango Forks girls’ won the Class C title with 37 points as BGAH took second (41) in a close finish.

Girls:

Maddie Ingham led the BGAH girls with a fourth place finish, running a time of 22:07.80. Teammate Madison Farberman followed in fifth with a time of 22:22.10. Lelaenia Baldwin earned a top 10 finish with finishing ninth with a time of 22:51.90. Jalyn Winans just missed the top 10 with an 11th place finish, finishing in 23:20.30.

Macey LaFever came in 22nd with a time of 25:01 with Gabby Gross in 26th (26:00.60), Marissa Mayo in 33rd (27:00.20) and Isabel Suda finishing 41st out of 56 female competitors in Class C with a time of 28:00.40.

Boys:

Alike Ingham, Owen Degan finished fourth for the BGAH boys. Degan ran a time of 17:33.60. Ethan Beardslee finished 11th with a time of 18:59.60 with Sean Fowler in 15th place with a time of 19:08.80.

Rowan Beasinger came in 21st with a time of 19:31.40 as Jackari Garipoli followed two spots behind in 23rd with a time of 19:53.80.

Aiden Quick took 30th with a time of 20:20.10 with My’Kel George in 42nd (21:13.90), Mason Lans in 54th (22:05.10), and Connor Rowe in 64th out of 70 male runners in Class C with a time of 26:22.40.

Norwich:

Natalie Phillips, Malea Sutton, and Laci Zieno continue to lead the 2025 STAC East champion, Norwich girls’ team. Phillips led the trio with a 24th place finish with a time of 25:13.50 with Sutton in 37th with a time of 27:40.50 and Zieno in 53rd with a time of 34:38.20.

Nic Sutton ran to a ninth place finish as the lone male runner for Norwich. Sutton finished with a time of 18:42.10.

UV/GMU:

Andrea Favinger led the UV/GMU girls with a 29th place finish with a time of 24:10 as Margaret Kemnah finished behind her in 31st with a time of 24:26.20. Kathleen Pizzuto came in 43rd out of 85 female runners in Class D with a time of 25:34.50.

Jake Favinger ran to an 8th place finish for the Storm boys with a time of 18:22.20 as Dominic Berthel finished 92nd out of 107 male runners in Class D with a time of 23:59.40.
