Chenango County’s own award-winning children’s author, Suzanne Bloom, will share her poetry and have her books available for purchase. Guests can also decorate a puzzle piece for her upcoming museum installation taking place the following week. At 1 p.m., local researcher Sharon Donahe will offer insight on her latest title, “The Norwich Pharmacal Company, 1885-2009.” Discover how she explored the company’s archives to preserve the rich history of this renowned pharmaceutical house. Then, join Norwich native Christian Vischi at 3 p.m. for an author talk and book signing to celebrate the recent release of his first full-length book, “Stitched Together: A History of the Norwich Knitting Co. and Walt Disney.”

“We’re thrilled to celebrate Museum Store Sunday by offering merchandise for the whole family while encouraging our communities to shop local,” said Joseph Fryc, operations manager. “Museum Store Sunday provides guests with opportunities to purchase unique merchandise while supporting our efforts to share and celebrate the local heritage of Chenango County.”

Offering a variety of gifts for the holiday season, all Museum Shop purchases directly support the museum’s mission. Patrons are encouraged to browse the distinct offerings available, such as the collectible 1981 and 1987 Currier & Ives calendars—years which have the same calendar as 2026. Other unique merchandise includes Norwich Pharmacal Company cancelled stock certificates, City of Norwich Centennial Banners, wooden replicas of iconic Chenango County locales, and hand-painted crocks.

The number of participating cultural institutions has tripled since the Museum Store Association (MSA) launched Museum Store Sunday in 2017. The global campaign’s slogan, “Shop with Purpose,” promotes economic sustainability and cultural engagement for museums and the communities they support. Colleen Higginbotham, president of MSA, explains how shopping at museum stores enriches local communities: “People want to shop locally, but often don’t know where to start,” Higginbotham said. “Museum stores make it easy, serving as a one-stop destination for meaningful gifts—from birthdays to holidays and everything in between.”
