FULTON —Twenty-four personal best times and over 1 minute and 32 seconds of collective time drops marked just a few of the achievements that the Norwich Dolphins YMCA swim team racked up at the Turkey Turn Invitational held in Fulton, NY on November 22.

The large format, championship style meet, consisted of 10 teams from the central and western NY regions. This provided for ample competition for all swimmers in each age group and lead the Norwich Dolphins team to an overall fourth place finish amongst the 10 teams. Nearly all of the Dolphins swimmers placed in the top 16. Additionally, Kennedy Foulds, Lawton Ferris, and Laura Coye added State qualifying swims to their events list.

Topping off the meet was a record-breaking swim by Reigan Aikins in the 9-10 girls 100 yard Butterfly coming in at a 1:28.32. This swim beat her previous record set in the same event last year by over 14 seconds!

“The team is looking great, we are already faster than we were at this time last season. Our first-year swimmers are constantly picking up and using new techniques and strategies in practice and using them in their races. Our second-year swimmers are exploring new events and challenges, and our seasoned swimmers are zeroed in on their goals and moving forward in achieving them.”

The next meet for the Dolphins is a home meet against Watertown Blue Sharks on Dec. 6 at the Norwich YMCA.
