NORWICH – NBT Bank presented the United Way of Mid Rural New York with a check for $190,000 to help fund programs that provide financial stability, education and health resources for individuals and families in Chenango, Delaware, Madison and Otsego counties.

NBT Bank employees donated $95,000 to the United Way’s annual campaign through personal contributions, and the company matched that amount with an additional $95,000.

“Supporting the United Way’s annual campaign is a collective investment in the strength and well-being of our community,” said NBT Bank CEO Scott Kingsley. “By contributing these funds to the United Way, our employees and our company help provide critical resources for education, health and financial stability, making a lasting impact right here at home.”

"It’s so important that we raise as many dollars for our community as possible," said Elizabeth Monaco, Executive Director of the United Way. "We have 41 programs across our footprint that rely on a successful campaign. We also have many United Way initiatives, like the Micro Loan project, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and the Regional Dental Task Force that depend on a strong annual campaign to serve our communities. This last year has been very difficult for so many of our families and we need to ensure that local programs are able to continue functioning and that funding remains available for them through the United Way. It’s critical that we meet and exceed our goal to be able to do that."
