S-E swim begins season at Cooperstown
COOPERSTOWN— The Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves swim team opened the 2025-26 season at Cooperstown on Thursday night. The final score was Cooperstown 96-40, but S-E swimmers came away with good progression from its returning swimmers.
S-E had two relay teams for the 200 free relay, where Relay team (A): Robert Schaefer, Isaac Larchar, Ava Flanagan, and Parker McCracken took second with a time of 2:00.19 behind Cooperstown's top 1:53.59. Amelia Furlong, Madelyn Chouinard, Amelia Casscles, and Clayton Lawton led the second relay team (B) to a fourth place finish with a time of 2:13.69.
A team of Robert Schaefer, Parker McCracken, Ava Flanagan, and Isaac Larchar came in fourth place with a time of 2:14.43 in the 200 medley relay.
Ava Flanagan led S-E with a first place finish in the 500 free with the fastest time of 6:43.02. Chouinard earned a first place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:34.76 as Larchar led the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:46.56 with Casscles behind him (1:58.79).
Flanagan and Amelia Furlong both swam in the 200 free with Flanagan in fourth place with a time of 2:39.85 and Furlong earning a new best time of 2:42.85 for fifth place.
Parker McCracken, who returns as a Junior this season, took second in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:43.11, behind Cooperstown's 2:22.82.
Isaac Larchar, Amelia Casscles, and Clayton Lawton all swam in the 50 free. Larchar came in with a fourth place finish with a time of 31.68 seconds with Casscles behind him at 32.98 seconds and Lawton at 35.78 seconds in sixth place.
Schaefer, Madelyn Chouinard, and Furlong all joined for the 100 free, where Schaefer took third with a time of 1:06.34. Chouinard earned a fifth place finish with a new personal best time of 1:14.31 with Furlong in sixth place with her own new best of 1:15.44.
S-E heads to Norwich on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
