Harpursville-Bainbridge-Guilford-Afton-Chenango Valley girls’ wrestling competes over weekend

CHENANGO COUNTY — Over the weekend, the newly combined Harpursville-Bainbridge-Guilford-Afton-Chenango Valley (HBGACV) girls’ wrestling team were in action at two tournaments on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the girls were at an annual girls tournament at Newark Valley while on Saturday, they were at the Bee Stephens Girls Wrestling tournament in Horseheads.

On Friday, the team finished third in team points, fueled by a combination of veteran leadership and standout performances from first-year wrestlers.

Several first-year wrestlers impressed coaches and teammates alike with strong match performances, showing great promise for the future: Maria “Bea” Genovesi (BG Junior), Avamarie Trisvan (CV Junior), Aubrey Frank (Afton Freshman) and Amber Tyler (Harpursville Senior).

These newcomers displayed grit, determination, and quick growth on the mat, signaling that the HBGACV program’s depth is only getting stronger.
