DEPOSIT— The Oxford Blackhawks boys’ basketball team traveled to Deposit over the weekend to compete in the Deposit-Hancock tournament. The Blackhawks defeated both Morris and Rockland to win the tournament.

Oxford heads to Stamford on Monday and Tuesday to compete a tournament before traveling to Morris next weekend to play in the Ray Clement tournament.

Oxford held on to defeat Morris in the first round of the Deposit-Hancock tournament. Both teams brought high intensity in the high-scoring affair. Oxford controlled the contest, even by small margin throughout.

Gordon Smith led the Blackhawks with 26 points, going six-for-nine at the free-throw line, which really helped Oxford seal the victory late in the fourth quarter. Smith scored 12 of his 26 in those final eight minutes alone.
