S-E boys’ finish runners-up with UV in fourth at S-E tip-off tournament

SHERBURNE— The Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves boys’ basketball team hosted the annual tip-off tournament, featuring Unadilla Valley, Cazenovia, and Clinton this year. S-E defeated UV in the opening round, but fell to Cazenovia in the championship game. UV fell to Clinton in the consolation game.

Congratulations to the S-E JV team on winning the championship game against Cazenovia 42-38.

Cazenovia’s Edmund Richardson was named tournament MVP with S-E’s Tomek Jusianiec and Jordan Palmer named to the all-tournament team, along with UV’s Preston York.

Both teams started off back-and-forth with S-E taking a one-point 13-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Timberwolves were once up by 10 halfway through the second quarter until UV’s Preston York and Declan Potter traded shots. York and Denzel Peter led the Storm in steals as well.

S-E led 28-24 at the break.

Both teams got back to work in the third quarter with UV taking its first lead as York had help from Potter and Peter to give UV a brief one-point lead. S-E’s Jordan Palmer went down and scored following York’s shot before Potter tied the game at the free-throw line on a technical foul.
