JOHNSON CITY—The Norwich Purple Tornado boys' basketball team played against Class A's Athens High School Thursday evening for the opening round of the Mark Woitach Tip-Off tournament at Johnson City High School.

The Purple Tornado came away with the 68-50 victory to advance to the tournament championship.

Norwich's Aiden Young led the team with 14 points as Cooper Chrystie finished with 13.

Norwich (3-0) will play host Johnson City in the tournament championship on Saturday at 5:15 p.m.
