NORWICH – Recently at DCMO BOCES, Early Childhood Education students from the Pole and Harrold campuses and the New Vision Education program, participated in a hands-on “Playful Learning” workshop led by Christine Newell, Coordinator of Staff and Curriculum Development.

The class' learning approach leverages the natural inclination of children to learn through play, exploration and discovery, and involves creating an engaging learning environment that promotes active participation, creativity, and problem solving.

Students were able to learn the importance of incorporating playful learning into teaching practice to help enhance student engagement, foster a positive learning experience, and promote deeper understanding of complex concepts.

The students actively engaged in an exploration of bees in a playful learning environment and learned how to design and facilitate play learning activities that align with the standards and developmentally appropriate practices.
