B-G girls win the 47th annual Kazalski Christmas tournament

BAINBRIDGE— The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats girls’ basketball team returned to action on Tuesday, where they faced Harpursville in the Kazalski Christmas tournament championship game. Playing at home and the thrill of the crowd kept the Bobcats fired up to dominate from start to finish in this contest. B-G improves to 8-0 on the season, leading the whole MAC league by about four games, with a big 78-30 victory against the Hornets in a non-league matchup.
The Bobcats JV team also won the tournament championship with a 45-33 victory.
Senior Jayslin Henderson went off with 20 points to lead the Bobcats. She went six-for-11 at the free-throw line. She scored 15 points in the first half before adding five more in the final two quarters.
Henderson also added eight rebounds, three steals, and three assists.
Tournament MVP Marissa Mayo posted a double-double with 18 points, 11 rebounds, a team-high six steals, and four assists.
Emma Kinter, who also made the all-tournament team, finished with 14 points and six rebounds. She also had three three-pointers and went three-for-five at the free-throw line.
Kamry Patten added six points in the second half and went four-for-four at the line. Tori Suda also finished with six points, making all two of her free-throws, and had five rebounds.
Jalyn Winans and Merren Lorimer both finished with five points off the bench as Peyton Umbra had four points in the first half. Umbra also had seven rebounds and a team-high of six assists in the win.
B-G (8-0) returns after the new year, where they will be at Greene on Jan. 7 at 7:15 p.m. before starting a four-game home stand.
