CCHS recognized for ‘perseverance, creativity, and tireless service’ by NYSCA

NORWICH – The Chenango County Historical Society (CCHS), the area’s premier heritage museum, recently announced a grant award totaling $49,500 from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA). Through New York state’s continued investment in the arts and culture sector, NYSCA has awarded $80.9 million in fiscal year 2026 to nonprofits across all 10 regions and a historic number of artists.

“New York’s arts and culture sector is a cornerstone of the state’s identity, and we’re making bold investments to ensure it remains strong,” New York state Governor Kathy Hochul said. “These grants will lift up artists and organizations in every region, fueling local economies and expanding access to the arts. Congratulations to all the grantees – your talent and dedication help power New York’s future.”

“We are very grateful for NYSCA’s continued investment in our mission,” said CCHS Executive Director Jessica Moquin. “This is the fifth consecutive year that CCHS has received NYSCA funding. The stability offered by this consistent support is allowing the museum to grow and flourish in exciting ways. We look forward to another dynamic season of sharing and celebrating our unique community heritage.”

First established in 1939, CCHS is the area’s premier heritage museum dedicated to celebrating local culture—its unique traditions and noteworthy stories.
