OTSEGO COUNTY - The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Worcester man following an investigation into a stabbing that occurred during the course of a domestic incident.

Christopher R. Roettger, 25, of Worcester, was charged with first degree assault and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Prior to the arrival of first responders, the defendant fled the scene and deputies located a victim suffering from multiple stab wounds inside the residence.

The victim was provided medical care by Otsego County EMS and transported to Bassett Hospital for further medical attention.

During the course of the investigation, police made contact with the defendant who returned to the scene to turn himself in and he was taken into custody without incident. Investigators applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence and the defendant’s vehicle where additional evidence was secured.

The Otsego County District Attorney’s Office recommended bail be set at $100,000 cash.

The defendant was processed and remanded to the Otsego County Correctional Facility pending arraignment in court. An order of protection was requested on behalf of the victim.
