NHS Wrestlers earn big win against BGAH

NORWICH —The Norwich Purple Tornado wrestling team hosted Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville in a rescheduled dual meet on Wednesday night at Norwich's Jack Jones Gymnasium. Norwich, coming off a hard loss to Ithaca on Monday, regrouped and picked up the big 61-12 victory over the Bears.

Koltyn Collins earned another solid win at the 103 weight class as the eighth grader defeated Colton Hall in a 1:26 pin.

Gabe Cutting earned a win by forefit for BGAH at the 118 weight class as teammate Frank Parsons won by forefit in the 132 weight class as the team's only points on the night.

Norwich's Kolby Vielandi, Jackson Young, and Ethan Shapley earned wins by forefit as well.

Jadyn Carpenter achieved a 3:08 pin against BGAH's Colton Ryan at 126 pounds.

Noah Eddy won by 15-0 tech fall against Boston Besse at 138 as Bryce Wellington pinned Glenn Miller III in 2:40 at 144.

Kole Downey won another great match as he defeated Mason Buchanan in a 14-7 decision.

Maverick Beckwith stayed hot for Norwich by defeating Silas Greenman in a 15-0 tech fall at 165 pounds.

Malakai Hagenbuch, that did so well in his exhibition match on Monday, got the nod at 175 and pinned BGAH's Andreus Juliussen in 1:55.

Noah Shack pinned Caleb Larsen in 1:23 at 215.

Norwich hosts Chenango Forks on January 20 at 6 p.m. as BGAH heads to Greene to take on Oxford-Greene this evening at 6 p.m.
