NORWICH - UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital is welcoming a new orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Keith Cordischi.
“UHS Chenango Memorial is a stellar institution with a solid reputation in the community,” he said. “I am very excited to provide quality orthopedic care to this community, as a member of the medical staff at UHS Chenango Memorial.”
There is a growing demand for orthopedic services in Chenango County and in November of 2025 Chenango Memorial Hospital was recognized by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield with a Blue Distinction Center designation for their expertise in knee and hip replacements.
The organization credited the hospital with improved safety practices and delivering better long-term health outcomes for patients.
According to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, “This designation is a testament to the rigorous standards met by UHS Chenango Memorial. Designated knee and hip replacement facilities deliver high-quality care, with an average of 21% fewer readmissions and 21% fewer complications within 90 days after knee and hip replacement surgery.”
Cordischi said he was proud to serve the local community and join the hospital's team.
“Everyone with whom I’ve interacted has been welcoming and engaging, not just here at the hospital but in the surrounding community,” said Cordischi, “The staff seem genuinely happy and enjoy their employment here at UHS Chenango Memorial. This is an extremely positive sign. This is the type of environment in which I’d like to work.”
He also expressed enthusiasm for the hospital’s expanding orthopedic facilities. “I am quite excited about the new orthopedic space,” he said. “This will allow me to provide quality orthopedic care in a brand new environment.”
Cordischi's commitment to health care is connected to his lifelong fascination with athletics and the human body.
“As far back as I can remember, I was always fascinated with the human musculoskeletal system and the intricate structure and function of the human body,” he explained. “I have always played sports, from the time of my youth. This cultivated my interest in the sub-specialty of sports medicine.”
He added, “My goal is to help those with orthopedic maladies improve their quality of life, whether it by non-surgical or surgical means. I have always placed an emphasis on developing a trusting relationship between myself and patients and their families.”
Cordischi has nearly twenty years of experience and an extensive specialty in shoulder arthroscopy, shoulder replacement surgery, and knee arthroscopy, including ACL reconstructive surgery.
Beyond the hospital, the surgeon also shared some personal background.
“I have been married 23 years and my wife and I have four wonderful children, one in college and three in high school. We also have two dogs. Hailing from Boston, I am an avid Boston Sports Fan. During my sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship, I was involved in participating in the care of the Single-A and Double-A Boston Red Sox,” he said.
