SMYRNA - A two-month narcotics investigation led to the arrest of a Smyrna man after sheriff’s deputies uncovered a pound of methamphetamine during a search of a residence, reported the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.

Timothy L. Heady, 45, was taken into custody on Tuesday, Jan. 20 and charged with four counts of 2nd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class A felony; four counts of 3rd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class B felony; and one count of tampering with physical evidence, a Class E felony.

Authorities said the search yielded a quantity of U.S. currency and roughly one pound of methamphetamine, packaged for distribution.

Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting, Jr. said his office will continue to work diligently to combat illegal drug activity and protect the safety and well-being of county residents.

Heady was arraigned in centralized arraignment court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility.

All charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent of the charges until proven guilty in a court of law.
