S-E girls erase 10-point deficit to defeat Poland
SHERBURNE— The Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves girls’ basketball team took on CSC non-divisional opponent Poland on Thursday night. It was an exciting night as S-E erased a 10-point deficit to defeat Poland 46-34. The Timberwolves avenge a loss to the Tornadoes from earlier in the season.
S-E is also on a five-game win streak and is ranked fourth in their division. With their five-game win steak, S-E improves to 9-5 on the season.
Both teams were off to a slow start and picked things up in the second quarter, where Poland took a 19-14 lead at halftime. S-E fell behind in the third quarter as Poland led by 10-points 24-14.
S-E amped up and went on a 32-10 run, posting 23 points in the fourth quarter to make the comeback.
Morgan Mikalunas led the Lady Timberwolves with 16 points, where she also had two three-pointers, seven rebounds, and two assists. Mikalunas also went four-for-five at the free-throw line.
Cora Franklin added 11 points with four rebounds, two assists, and went three-for-six at the line.
Natalie Knickerbocker finished with seven points with four rebounds, two steals, and an assist.
Brynn Shaver and Abbie Green both had six points with Shaver leading the team with 11 rebounds.
Shaver also had three assists and hit two three’s as Green added seven rebounds, four assists, and led S-E with three steals in the win.
S-E takes their five-game win streak into Saturday’s matchup at Canastota with the tip-off set for 12:30 p.m.
