Oxford boys top Greene in high-scoring league battle

GREENE— On Thursday, the Oxford Blackhawks and the Greene Trojans boys’ basketball teams faced off in a neighborly MAC league contest. Oxford came out on top 72-62 to improve to 10-4 on the season and standing tall at 6-0 in the MAC, above Unatego/Franklin.

While Greene found its rhythm offensively, scoring 13 points or more, a 5-for-14 performance at the free-throw line hindered the Trojans' comeback.

Oxford, led by a string of standout individual performances, was simply too much to handle. The Blackhawks set the tone early, exploding for 42 points in the first half alone.
