Oxford girls honor seniors in win vs Greene

OXFORD— The Oxford Blackhawks and Greene Trojans girls basketball teams faced off in a neighborly MAC league matchup on Friday night. Before tip-off, Oxford honored its Class of 2026 seniors.

Congratulations to Abby Stone, Olivia Oliver, Emmalee Reiss, and Margaret Rovente.

Oxford celebrated its seniors well with a close 51-35 win.

Paige Rickard led the Blackhawks with 12 points, including seven points in the second quarter and went three-for-four at the free-throw line.

Raine Rovente added nine points, where she stayed consistent throughout the contest.

Margaret Rovente finished with seven points and led the team with 12 rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Jenna Denz netted five points as Aubrey Rickard had four points.

Jordan Palmer, Olivia Oliver, Emmalee Reiss, and ReesAnne Tefft all finished with three points as Arielle Ross added a basket in the third quarter. Tefft also had three steals in the win.

Greene’s Hailey Butler led the team with eight points with six of her total points in the first quarter.

Deidre Colgan and Kaitlyn Youngs both added six points. Youngs went four-for-four at the free-throw line.

Mia Yahner and Mya Leggett-Carlin both had five points as Ahraya Whitt had three points in the third quarter and Braelyn Blakeslee with two points.

Oxford (9-5) heads to Delhi on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. Greene (3-10) heads to Sidney at the same time.
