NHS wrestling finishes ninth at the STAC Championship

BINGHAMTON— The Norwich Purple Tornado wrestling team competed in the STAC Championship on Saturday, where they finished ninth out of 17 teams with 73 points.

Congratulations to Maverick Beckwith on becoming a four-time STAC champion! Beckwith went 3-0 at 150 pounds.

Bryce Wellington took third in the 144 weight class, going 4-1.

Matthew Allen: 0-2, fell to teammate Malakai Hagenbuch in a 9-0 decision at 165 pounds.

Maverick Beckwith: STAC Champion at 150 pounds, 3-0 with two wins by tech fall and a 1:30 pin.

Jadyn Carpenter: 2-2 at 132 with a win by medical forfeit and a sudden victory 10-3 decision.

Koltyn Collins: fifth place at 103, went 3-2 with a :56 pin, a 4-3 decision, and a 1:24 pin.

Kole Downey: 1-2 at 150, with a 12-9 decision against Corning’s Landyn Proudfoot.

Noah Eddy: 1-2 at 144 with a 1:55 pin against M-E’s Wesley Lunn.

Malakai Hagenbuch: 1-2 at 165, only win against teammate Matthew Allen in a 9-0 decision.

Kolby Vielandi: 2-2 at 157 with two wins by tech fall.

Bryce Wellington: third place at 144, went 4-1 with three wins by decision and a 2:47 pin.
