NHS boys celebrate seniors with a comeback victory vs Waverly

NORWICH— The Norwich Purple Tornado boys’ basketball team had a lot to celebrate on Friday night as the Purple Tornado honored its Class of 2026 seniors and earned a comeback victory against Waverly.
Congratulations to seniors Michael Brunick, Owen Olds, and Kassen Stubb.
Norwich, who found themselves down by small margins throughout the contest, tied the game late in the fourth quarter and went ahead by 10 with less than two minutes to go. Norwich defeated Waverly 64-51.
The Purple Tornado excelled with 25 points in the final eight minutes, which helped them made the overall comeback.
Norwich went 15-for-21 at the free-throw line, including four technical foul shots and two intentional foul shots as well. Aiden Young had eight free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter, where he made seven of those.
Senior Kassen Stubb played a phenomenal game for his special night as he played consistently throughout the contest. Stubb led the team with 18 points.
Young finished with 12 points as Carmine Pastore impressed with 11 points off the bench.
Brayden Adoff hit crucial three-pointers to help Norwich get closer in the second half. Cooper Chrystie played excellent defense and had seven points,
Cooper hit a big three, which put Norwich up 55-51, along with two free-throws from Young just prior to Chrystie’s shot.
Brevin Bennett added five points in the first half as Carter Chrystie chipped in a bucket in the third quarter.
Norwich improves to 12-3 on the season and heads to Owego Apalachin on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.
