NHS boys’ swim honors seniors vs Windsor

NORWICH— On Friday, the Norwich Purple Tornado boys’ swim team honored its two seniors, Timothy Guzewich and Nate Shtrauch, prior to the meet against Windsor. Congratulations!
Norwich fell 105-74 in the meet but continued to drop swim times.
Starting off, Norwich won the 200 medley relay with a time of Guzewich, Sharon Thinagaran, Sebastian Kenyon, and Shalom Thinagaran with a time of 2:09.92.
Moutarde, Guzewich, Amon Oliver, and Nate Shtrauch won the 200 free relay with a time of 1:41.30.
Norwich had two relay teams for the 400 free relay.
Oliver, Shtrauch, Kenyon, and Moutarde took first with a time of 3:57.38 with Beiu, Collins, Sharon Thinagaran, and Shalom Thinagaran in second with a time of 4:53.43.
Sophomore Alex Moutarde took first in the 200 free with a time of 2:06.94 as seventh grader Alex Beiu achieved a new personal best time of 2:34.71 for fifth place. Benjamin Collins also earned a new best time of 2:38.38 for sixth place.
Moutarde also won the 100 free event with the fastest time of 56.12 seconds.
Shalom Thinagaran took fifth place with a time of 1:06.63 as Beiu achieved another personal best of 1:11.50 in sixth place.
Sharon Thinagaran finished fourth in the 200 individual medley with a time of 3:13.46.
Timothy Guzewich took second in the 50 free with a time of 25.62 seconds, behind Windsor’s 25.44.
Amon Oliver followed Guzewich with a third place finish with a time of 25.82 seconds and Kenyon in fourth with a time of 25.94 seconds.
Oliver also competed in the 500 free, where he took first with the fastest time of 5:27.80 with Nate Shtrauch in third with a time of 6:04.99.
Shtrauch took second in the 100 butterfly event with a season-best time of 1:02.00, behind Windsor’s 59.02.
Collins, Shalom Thinagaran, and Sharon Thinagaran all swam in the 100 backstroke, where Collins finished in fourth place with a personal best time of 1:22.80.
Shalom took fifth with a time of 1:26.23 with Sharon in sixth (1:28.13).
Guzewich came in third place in the breaststroke with a time of 1:23.33 as Kenyon finished fourth with a time of 1:31.83.
Norwich now prepares for Sectionals, coming up in two weeks.
