NORWICH – UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital has welcomed a new midwife to the UHS Women’s Health Center in Norwich. Traci Morris, CNM, an experienced registered nurse and midwife who recently relocated to the region from New Jersey, has joined the practice and is now welcoming patients.

Morris brings more than two decades of nursing experience to her role, along with a lifelong passion for women’s health and the birthing process.

“I always knew I wanted to be a nurse,” she shared. “From the first time I saw one as a child, it seemed to me to be the best job in the world.”

After raising her own children, she returned to school to become a Certified Nurse Midwife, fulfilling what she describes as a deeply rooted calling.

A recent transplant to upstate New York, Morris said she and her husband fell in love with the region’s natural beauty and welcoming community.

“We purchased a farm, bought some animals, and decided to stay,” she said.

When she discovered the opportunity at UHS Chenango Memorial, she applied immediately.

She said she quickly felt at home.

“When I came for the first interview, I was amazed at how welcoming and warm the staff were –and they have continued to be that way ever since,” she noted. “This is a lovely place to work, and I’m grateful to be part of such an amazing team. The patients seem like wonderful people, too.”

“I believe it’s not important for me to stand out, but rather to fit into the team model,” Morris said. “My goal is always to be thorough, exact, and compassionate. And above all else, I want the people I care for to know that I will listen to them. To me, that seems to be the most important thing I can do.”

She joins a medical staff team comprised of Dr. Bahman Sadeghi, Certified Nurse Midwife Christina Mann, and Nurse Practitioner Lorrie Vail, under the leadership of Medical Director Dr. Phyllis Sheriff-White.
