UV girls fall short to Deposit-Hancock

DEPOSIT— The Unadilla Valley Storm girls’ basketball team traveled to take on MAC league opponent Deposit-Hancock on Monday night. The Storm came up short 43-36 to Ivy Tice and the Eagles.

UV had a slow start to the contest and then picked up the pace in the second quarter, surging with 16 points.

The Storm held the Eagles to five free-throws in the second quarter to take a brief 20-17 lead at halftime.

However, Deposit-Hancock got back on track after the break. The Eagles’ Ivy Tice hit three three-pointers in the third quarter to help the offense while the defense held UV to five points within those eight minutes.

UV tried to come back in the fourth quarter, but fell short.

Shyla Roberts led the Storm with 17 points, where she had 12 points in the second quarter to give UV the lead at halftime. She also made 11-of-15 free-throw attempts.

Myriah Taylor followed with 13 points and played a consistent game, where she scored at least two points in every quarter. Avery Golliver, Kora Johnson, Allisyn Daniell all added a basket in the loss.

UV (3-15) are currently scheduled to play the Eagles again on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
