NORWICH — For more than a year residents have been without any local public transportation, but on Monday Chenango County officials will welcome the re-opening of public transit to the area.
The Chenango County board of Supervisors is inviting the public to join the ceremony of Chenango County public transportation at 9:30 a.m., March 9, in the city parking lot behind the Red Roof Inn, located at the corner of Court Street and Fair Street in Norwich.
Clerk of the Board Sheri Howe said re-opening day will offer free fare on all Chenango County public transportation routes.
“For the ceremony, there will be one bus for people to get on and ask the driver questions,” Howe said. “After opening day, there will be six buses running routes throughout the day, starting at 6 a.m.”
