Norwich woman arrested by Chenango County Sheriff detectives following sexual abuse investigation
NORWICH - A Norwich woman was arrested on February 27 following a sexual abuse investigation involving a juvenile victim, according to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.
Kimberly E. Hart, 33, was arrested after an investigation by the sheriff’s office detective division into allegations that she engaged in sexual relations with a female juvenile victim.
According to investigators, Hart promoted the production of nude images of the youth and disseminated those images electronically to a registered sex offender living in North Carolina.
Hart was charged with third-degree obscenity, third-degree sexual abuse, first-degree disseminating indecent material to minors, sexual misconduct, endangering the welfare of a child, promoting a sexual performance by a child less than 17 years of age, and promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child less than 17 years of age.
Hart appeared in Chenango County centralized arraignment court and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $15,000 cash bail, $30,000 bond, or $60,000 partially secured bond at 10%.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains ongoing. The sheriff’s office was assisted by partnering law enforcement agencies.
Defendants accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
