NORWICH— The Norwich Purple Tornado boys’ swim team celebrated the 2025-26 season, presented team awards, and celebrated many accolades this season as a team of nine dedicated boys.
The nine boys: Ben Collins, Sharon Thinagaran, Alex Moutarde, Timothy Guzewich, Nate Shtrauch, Amon Oliver, Shalom Thinagaran, Sebastian Kenyon, Alexandru Beiu, along with Coach Saundra Gantt, accomplished over 100 best times, 467 total seconds dropped, 11 top eight finishes, seven top 16 finishes, a third place team at Sectionals, where all nine boys qualified for the finals.
The team also celebrated Amon Oliver’s Section IV title in the 500 free and its seniors one final time. Congratulations to seniors Timothy Guzewich and Nate Shtrauch.
Congratulations to Amon Oliver on being named a STAC All Conference All-Star and team MVP as Ben Collins was named Most improved.
Sharon Thinagaran received the coaches award while Timothy Guzewich, Nate Shtrauch, and Alex Moutarde all were named STAC All-Division All-stars.
“Congratulations to this team of boys for an amazing season,” Coach Gantt said. “ What they were able to accomplish being a team of only nine boys - the second smallest team in the section AND without divers, is a testament to not only their talent but their hard work.”
Good season, Norwich and best of luck to the seniors.
