NORWICH – On Saturday, March 14, the annual Norwich St. Baldrick's event takes place at the Canasawacta Country Club. Participants, either individually or as part of a team, shave their heads to fundraise for childhood cancer research.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation works with pediatric oncologists to fund research that will make the most impact towards finding treatments for childhood cancer. Across the country communities host these head shaving events to raise funds for St. Baldrick's. In 2025 the foundation raised $21,222,615.

This year there are currently 65 participants registered for the event in Norwich, including shavees, barbers, fundraisers, and event organizers. This year's fundraising goal is set at $50,000, of which they have already raised $35,866.

There are currently a total of nine teams, Will's Fight, Jenna, Team Walker, Ontario Hose Company #3, Team Norwich PD 2026, Team Mannix, Team Wright, Team Wentworth, and Kids Cancer Crew. The top teams are currently Will's Fight who have raised $8175.75, Jenna who have raised $1,217.63, and Team Walker who have raised $1,043.02.

The three Norwich PD officers participating are Assistant Chief Matt Roberts, Officer Nick Mooney, and Officer Tyler Dexheimer. Their team has so far raised $585.03. These officers have committed to going bald, and set to do so tomorrow in the second group of shavees at 1:15 pm.

While most participants in the event will be shaving their entire heads, a handful have registered as trimees only. Trimees participate in fundraising activities the same as those going fully bald, they are still supporting lifesaving childhood cancer research. However all of the officers participating are registered as full shavees.
