The 4-H Hiking Club invite local youth to register for April hike

NORWICH ― The 4-H Hiking Club and Chenango County Youth Bureau invite local youth to participate in an upcoming hike with the Bullthistle Hiking Club on April 4.


The hike is scheduled from 9 to 11:00 a.m. but may conclude a bit earlier depending on the pace of the group and trail conditions.


Youth participants must register in advance, and parents or guardians are welcome and encouraged to join.


Registration is also required to receive an email with hike details prior to the event. To register, visit: reg.cce.cornell.edu/Hiking-Club-April_208.


"While adults do not need to register separately, we appreciate knowing who plans to attend," said 4-H Youth Development Educator Nicole Starkweather.

"These hikes are intentionally paced to allow time for exploration and learning. Participants often practice identifying birds, observing plants, and looking for signs of local wildlife," Starkweather explained.


"We also incorporate conversations about the environment and encourage curiosity about the natural world," she said. "Binoculars are often brought along to help enhance the experience.
