NORWICH—The Norwich Purple Tornado flag football team opened up the 2026 season at home on Monday night, where they hosted Chenango Valley. Norwich, under new head coach Evan Wolff, defeated Chenango Valley 13-7.

Josey Ryan, coming off a stellar basketball season, led the Purple Tornado with two touchdowns. She passed one touchdown to Charlie Smith and also ran for one.

Smith, as well as Brooklyn Burke, both came up with interceptions on the defense in the win.

Norwich (1-0) heads to Chenango Forks this evening at 6 p.m.
