Oxford tennis starts 2026 season vs Sidney

OXFORD— The Oxford Blackhawks tennis team kicked off the 2026 season, hosting Sidney on Monday afternoon. Oxford fell 5-0.

The Blackhawks had Emily Williams, Gavin Dibble, and Nic Richette in at singles.

Williams faced off against Erin Neubert and although she lost both sets, Williams battled in the first set with the score at 6-4 but fell 6-0 in the second set.

Dibble went up against a tough Chloe Van Der Sommen, where he had a good first set with a deficit of 6-3 but dropped 6-1 in the second set.

Richette had the same outcome and score as teammate Dibble, falling 6-3, 6-1.

In doubles, Oxford had Paige Rickard with Richard Hunter and Christina Muppalla with Margaret Rovente.

Rickard and Hunter battled with Gregory Bales and Brayden Strauss but fell in two 6-4 sets.

Muppalla and Rovente fell to Dominick Johnson and Matthew Greene in two 6-1 sets.

Oxford (0-1) heads to Starlight Tennis Courts to face Deposit-Hancock on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. to begin a three-match road trip.
