B-G softball kicks off 2026 season at Delhi

DELHI— The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats softball team traveled to Delhi to begin the 2026 season. The Bobcats, who are coached this season by Daryl Decker, fell 14-8 in the non-league matchup.

B-G was supposed to open the season up against Norwich but the game was PPD on Tuesday night.

The Bobcats went ahead 2-0 in the top of the first as Brenna George had a one-out single and moved to third on a single by Jayslin Henderson.

Henderson stole second and both Henderson and George scored on Tori Suda's two-run single.

B-G added on with three runs in the third inning as Breanna Casey singled to lead the inning off and Brenna George singles on a bunt. Casey came in to second on Henderson's RBI double with George scored on a passed ball and Suda comes up big again with a RBI single to bring in Henderson. \

Delhi got on the board in the bottom of the third before a nine-run fourth inning, where they took the lead and held onto it for good, even extending it in the fifth and sixth innings.

B-G answered back with three runs in the top of the sixth on a two-run single by Alessandra Cafasso and a RBI single by Henderson.

Despite the deficit, B-G outhit Delhi 10-4 but the Lady Bulldogs drew 15 walks and three hit by pitches.

Tori Suda led the Bobcats with three RBIs and two hits as Cafasso and Henderson both finished with two RBIs. Henderson led the team with three hits and had two RBIs, along with Casey and George, who both had two hits as well.

Hope Blackman got the start on the mound for B-G, where she went three and a third innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on three hits, seven walks, and struck out four batters.

Railey Odell worked an inning, allowing five runs (four earned) on one hit and five walks.

Alessandra Cafasso finished the game, where she pitched an inning and two thirds, allowing two runs (one earned) on no hits, three walks, and struck out three batters.

B-G (0-1) heads to Oxford on April 9 at 4:30 p.m.
