Morris Earth Day community clean up ready to kick-off April 18
MORRIS - Butternut Valley Alliance (BVA), Morris Rotary, and Morris Central School are partnering for an Earth Day community clean-up and creekside planting day on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to noon in the village of Morris.
Participants will meet at 10 a.m. at the Morris Central School parking lot to spread out in groups to pick up debris along the roads in Morris and plant milkweed provided by Upper Susquehanna Coalition along the Butternut and Calhoun creeks. Volunteers should wear appropriate clothing and bring hand trowels for planting.
MCS Student Voices Student Choices Team will lead a litter clean-up scavenger hunt and provide a water bottle refill station and snacks.
BVA and MCS will collect hard-to-recycle items at the MCS parking lot from 10 a.m. to noon.
BVA will collect the following items to recycle at Otsego County Conservation Association’s Earth Fest on May 9 at SUNY Oneonta: paper for shredding, textiles, styrofoam, cork, coffee pods, VHS and cassette tapes, CDs, Christmas lights, ink and toner cartridges, and oral care waste such as toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes.
MCS will collect plastics for recycling, including grocery bags, bread bags, bubble wrap, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, plastic shipping envelopes, Ziploc and other reclosable food storage bags, cereal bags, case overwrap, salt bags, pallet wrap, stretch film, wood pellet bags, and produce bags.
