NEW BERLIN - The New Berlin Library will kick off its 2026 Summer Reading Program on Wednesday, July 1, with this year’s theme, “Unearth a Story.”
The program invites children ages 12 and younger to take part in a dinosaur-themed reading adventure throughout the summer. Starting June 22, participants can pick up reading logs and themed swag bags at the library to begin tracking their reading progress.
The Summer Reading Program will run from July 1 through Aug. 31. Children will record their reading in 15-minute increments on reading logs and earn prizes as they reach reading milestones.
Participants will also be entered into raffles for several grand prizes as they achieve milestones during the program. This year’s grand prizes include three dinosaur-themed prize baskets, a dinosaur Squishmallow two-pack set and a two-pack of 93-by-43-inch dinosaur inflatable pool floaties. Winners will be drawn Sept. 1.
Library staff said the more a child reads, the more raffle entries they will receive for the grand prize drawings.
Prizes for the reading program were made possible through the Stewart’s Holiday Match Grant Program and a donation from the Norwich Walmart.
The Summer Reading Program is free and open to all children ages 12 and younger.
In addition to the children’s program, adults will also have a chance to participate in summer prize drawings. During July and August, adults who visit the library will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a themed gift basket. The drawing will take place Sept. 1.
The adult gift basket includes a black Stanley IceFlow 2.0 Flip Straw Tumbler with Handle, 14 ounces; an XL dinosaur T-shirt; fuzzy socks; a dinosaur ceramic mug; a dinosaur tote bag; Utica Coffee; chocolate; a “Jurassic World” cookbook; and a $20 Stewart’s gift certificate.
