Audrey A. Massey, 88, passed away at her home on Thursday, April 9, 2026. Born on May 18, 1937, in Kearny, NJ., Audrey was the daughter of the late Robert and Annette (Carbonneau) Howe. She was a graduate of East Side High School in Newark, NJ.
On May 20, 1972, Audrey married the love of her life, Raymond W. Massey, at the First Presbyterian Church in Rutherford, NJ. They shared many devoted years together until Raymond’s passing on February 21, 2025.
In 1975, she and her husband, Ray, relocated to Sherburne. Audrey was employed by NBT bank and the Sherburne Earlville Public School system. The couple later moved south in 1988, before returning to the area in 2010. Audrey was a faithful member of St. Malachy’s Church.
Audrey is survived by her daughters, Marieanne and her husband Richard Petersen of Woodstock, GA, and Sandra and her husband Steven Bennett of Sherburne; her brother, John (Debbie) Walsh of Oakland, NJ; her sisters-in-law, Carolyn Howe of Clifton, NJ, and Antonia “Toni” (Christopher) Foster of Newark, NJ. Audrey leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren, fifteen beloved great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Audrey was predeceased by her stepson, Brett Massey in 2001; her brother, Robert Howe in 2022 and her stepfather, Robert Howe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. Malachy’s Roman Catholic Church, 29 E. State St., Sherburne, NY 13460.
Interment will follow in St. Malachy’s Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the church.
