Sherburne’s 57th annual Pageant of Bands steps off with grand parade Saturday

SHERBURNE - The Annual Sherburne Pageant of Bands will be marching on for the 57th time this weekend, and participants say street-side audiences will experience the same quality of talent and excitement they have always come to expect.


“What makes this parade so great is the fact that we have bands from all over the state and sometimes we get bands from out-of-state to come to it,” said Sherburne-Earlville Marching Band trombone player Percy Bryant, a 10th grader. “This one has more to it. It’s a three day event and there are other competitions going on while you’re here.”

For Sherburne-Earlville band members especially, being the host to 32 other bands from all over New York state and playing for a home crowd makes the pageant even more important. “You get excited,” said 11th grader Matt Symonds, a five-year bass drummer in the band. “You actually know the people you’re performing for, and they support us through a lot of different stuff.”
