Sherburne gets ready for music in the park in July

SHERBURNE – A Wednesday night Sherburne tradition will pick up where it left off July 12 as the Sherburne Rotary Music in the Park series kicks off.
Sons of Pitches will take the stage at 6 p.m. July 12 in Gaines Park next to the Sherburne Public Library. The lawn concert is free and dinner will be available from the Sherburne Rotary Club. The five-member a cappella group will open a season of performances that series chairperson Marsha Guzewich said is a mixture of tradition and new sounds.
In an effort to keep the line-up fresh, the Smyrna Citizens’ Band will not be in the series this year.
“Smyrna Citizen’s Band and Big Band Sounds will be switching off year to year,” Guzewich said. “We are just trying to increase the diversity. It doesn’t mean that we wouldn’t have groups repeating, but we are trying to get away from groups returning forever and ever.”
