Senate hearing on NYRI project tonight
NORWICH - Officials from the company proposing construction of a high power line through Chenango County will be called before state senators at the Norwich High School tonight.
Representatives from New York Regional Interconnect, an Albany-based private company, are to appear before the Senate’s Committee on Energy and Telecommunications at 6 p.m. in the school gymnasium. The purpose of the hearing is for senate members to gain information relative to the 400 kV line that NYRI plans to unite Marcy and Rock Tavern.
“Our focus, and my goal, is for my constituents to first get some answers to the questions that they could not get answered,” said Senator Thomas W. Libous, R-Binghamton. “We are going to ask NYRI questions, a whole host of questions that we want answers to.”
