Sonny Landreth at the Earlville Opera House Saturday

EARLVILLE – The Earlville Opera House is excited to welcome master guitarist Sonny Landreth with his 4-piece band on Saturday at 8 p.m. An intoxicating mix of rock, blues, and Cajun characterizes Sonny Landreth’s sound. Entertainment Weekly calls him “ A bona fide guitar hero.”
A brilliant slide guitarist from Louisiana with over six recordings, Sonny’s ingenious style has been profiled on VH1.com and The Music Box as “part slide-guitar, part blues, part soul, and part rock. Landreth’s style sounds like a rock guitarist who has discovered you can have fun with a slide/bottleneck approach” (VH1.com).
Known for his captivating live performances, Landreth is a gifted musician with his unique guitar playing and spellbinding lyrics. His music continually highlights the bedrock of American sound with snappy Cajun rhythms and intricate jazz melodies. Eric Clapton has said Sonny Landreth “is probably the most underestimated musician on the planet and also probably one of the most advanced.”
Sonny’s first live disc recently released, Grant Street, has garnered rave reviews. The band recently performed at the first Jazz Fest in New Orleans since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated so much of the Gulf Coast. Sonny and the band have played a number of benefits since the hurricanes in their effort to help.
Come see what Sonny Landreth “can do with a guitar, some amps, and a lot of imagination and ingenuity” (VH1.com) on Saturday. Tickets are $21 for the general public; $18 for EOH members, and $16 for students. The performance is sponsored by Stickley, Audi & Co. The EOH Theater is wheelchair-accessible with a ramp and a lift. Don’t forget to visit the Arts Café. The café is always open before the performance and during intermission, and serves tasty desserts, refreshing summer drink classics, and hot coffee/tea as well. For more information, or to reserve your seats: call 315-691-3550 or order online at earlvilleoperahouse.com. The EOH galleries will be featuring national and local quilt exhibits.
Earlville Opera House events are made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency, and through the generosity of Earlville Opera House members.
