Libous announces $1M to fight NYRI
NORWICH – Sen. Thomas Libous (R-Binghamton) reported this morning that thanks to a collaborative effort between his New York State Senate colleagues and Majority Leader Sen. Joseph Bruno, $1 million has been secured to help in the fight against the New York Regional Interconnect power line project.
“This is a major step in the fight against NYRI,” Libous said in a phone interview with The Evening Sun this morning. “It gives us the muscle we need to continue the fight against this project.”
Libous said the money, up to $1 million, was released by Bruno from the senate’s discretionary spending fund. It will be earmarked for the New York Association of Counties’ ongoing legal efforts to stop the power line project.
