NHS art students awarded at State Fair

NORWICH – Three Norwich High School art students competed and won at The New York State Fair.

Ryan Marchant, Rachel Lorenz and Kristen Tomanocy brought home four out of the possible 12 awards given at the student art competition. The judging was held on Aug. 14 in the arts building at the fair. The winning pieces will remain in the building until the end of the fair, then return to Norwich for display in the district.

The three students entered their work into three out of four categories – sculpture, drawing and painting. The other category offered at the competition was graphics.

Ryan Marchant received third place in the drawing category and had a second piece accepted for display. Rachel Lorenz took first place in painting and in sculpture and Kristin Tomanocy won second place in painting and had a second piece accepted for display. Each student received ribbons and cash prizes.
