OXFORD – Oxford is showing no ill effects of losing its career scoring leader to graduation.
Sophomore Jenna Farwell had her second two-goal game as the Blackhawks rolled to their second straight shutout victory. “We played really well and just missed on a number of other great scoring opportunities,” said Oxford coach Jenny Davis.
Christi Baker opened the scoring just 1:43 into play, and Farwell added her first goal with 7:16 remaining in the half. Tori Lints and Vanessa Pierson added second-half goals.
Oxford hosts Greene Thursday at 7 p.m.

Jennifer Patten volleyed in Christina Butcher’s crossing pass at 31:54, and Marcie Day added an unassisted goal. “There weren’t a lot of shots in the game, but we were able to work the ball and get some nice crosses,” said B-G coach George Williams. “We have beaten Greene and Sidney so far; those have been good wins for us.”

The loss dropped G-MU to 0-3 on the season. “We had a few more opportunities on offense and didn’t capitalize,” said G-MU coach Tim Diters. “So far it’s been our inexperience versus other teams’ experience, and it’s showing.”

The Indians had goals from Dustin Smith and Ethan Williams to grab a 2-0 lead. OV sophomore, Troy Rasmussen, pared the margin with the lone tally of the second half.
“We were kind of on our heels in the first half and reacting to the ball instead of getting into the flow,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “We controlled much of the play in the second half and turned the game around. We created opportunities, but we’re still getting used to playing with each other.”
OV plays at DeRuyter Friday.

Sophomore Cody Hall had a hat trick for the Raiders, while Joe Acanfora and Paul Wildfeir tallied their first varsity goals. “We spaced ourselves better today and just had better overall fundamentals,” said G-MU coach Mark Luettger. “Drew Hartman and Cody Luettger did a good job controlling play in the midfield to set up our offense.”
